HC Deb 15 March 1906 vol 153 c1430
MR. DUFFY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland how many labourers' cottages have been built at Caherown and Knockaneglass, Athenry, within the past two years; what was the price paid for each site; who was the Local Government Board arbitrator appointed to assess the price; and if any claims have reached the Local Government Board on behalf of persons laying claim to a portion of the sites so acquired.

MR. BRYCE

Four labourers' cottages have been built at Caherown, but none at. Knockaneglass. The site at Caherown, which consisted of two acres of land near Athenry railway station, was considered by the arbitrator to possess exceptional value as a building site. The total compensation awarded to owner, lessee, and grazing tenant, was £311 18s. 0d. The arbitrator was Mr. J. H. Ryan, C. E. The Answer to the final inquiry is in the negative.
