HC Deb 14 March 1906 vol 153 c1243
MR. BOWLES (Lambeth, Norwood)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that, during the period from 1860 to 1903, the greatest improvement in employment in any one year in the United Kingdom was accompanied by the greatest yearly increase in manufactured imports, that the year 1872 of best known employment during that period was a year of great increase in manufactured imports, and the year 1879 of worst known employment was a year of great decrease in manufactured imports; and whether he would grant a Return, showing the increase or decrease of employment, and the corresponding increase or decrease of manufactured imports, for each year during the period in question.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

The facts are as stated in the hon. Member's Question. There would be no objection to granting such a Return if moved for.
