HC Deb 13 March 1906 vol 153 cc1120-1
MR. SWIFT MACNEILL (Donegal, S.)

asked the Speaker for an assurance that he was in absolute control of Questions, and that, if he saw that by the system of grouping anything like injustice was done to any one section of Members, he would see that that injustice was remedied, and that Questions were put down in such a way as to give a fair chance to every Member of the House; also, would he see that Questions were put down in their proper place, so as to give a fair chance to everyone?

* MR. SPEAKER

The hon. Member has endeavoured to invest me with a great many powers which I am certainly not anxious to take upon myself. I will endeavour to do my best to prevent injustice from being done to any private Member or any member of the Government. If any arrangement is come to by the different sections of the House, of course it is my duty to try to carry it out.

One other Member took and subscribed the Oath.
