HC Deb 13 March 1906 vol 153 cc1087-8
SIR THOMAS ESMONDE (Wexford, N.)

To ask the Secretary of State for India if the Government of Bengal will persist in their proposal to appoint a member of the Civil Service to the position of Director of Public Instruction, in view of the strong feeling that exists against it.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Morley.) I would refer the hon. Member to an Answer which I gave on this subject on the 1st instant.† I have no reason to suppose that the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal will abandon the intentions which I then explained.
