HC Deb 12 March 1906 vol 153 cc868-9
MR. MUNRO FERGUSON (Leith Burghs)

To ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether the Board of Agriculture, or any other Department, intends to take any steps to carry out the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on Forestry, 1902.

(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) It will be seen from our journal that much has already been done by the Board and by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests to give effect to the recommendations of the Committee, and I believe that the labours of the Committee and the action subsequently taken are likely to be attended with very satisfactory results so far as the development of British foresty, both in England and Scotland, is concerned. We should be very willing, however, to consider any suggestions with which my hon. friend may favour us as to the direction in which a further advance may be made.
