HC Deb 08 March 1906 vol 153 c643
* MR. BERTRAM (Hertfordshire, Hitchin)

I beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the Board of Agriculture, whether the sum of money placed at the disposal of the Board for grants-in-aid of Agricultural Education and Research is sufficient for the purpose; and, if not, whether the Board will consider the desirability of co-operating with the Board of Education with a view to utilising the resources of both Boards to the best advantage.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE (for Sir E. STRACHEY)

We should be very glad to be entrusted with larger funds for the promotion of Agricultural Education and Research, and I believe that there is room for the profitable development of our work in this direction. The officers of the Board of Agriculture and of the Board of Education are in frequent communication on business connected with Agricultural Education, and my noble friend proposes to confer personally with the President of the Board of Education on the subject at an early date. We quite realise the advantages of co-operation between the two Departments.
