HC Deb 07 March 1906 vol 153 cc462-3
MR. BOWLES

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether His Majesty's Government will consider the propriety of adopting an arrangement whereby, immediately after the Chancellor of the Exchequer has made his Budget statement of the National Expenditure and Debt for the year, the President of the Local Government Board would make a further statement of the expenditure and debt of local authorities for the same year.

THE PRIME MINISTER AND FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Sir H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN, Stirling Burghs)

The relations between Imperial and local expenditure and revenue are under the consideration of the Government, and the suggestion made by the hon. Member will not be lost sight of.
