HC Deb 07 March 1906 vol 153 c456
MR. DUFFY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if the Estates Commissioners have received a copy of resolution passed by the Gort District Council at their meeting on the 17th ultimo, wherein they request the Commissioners, in the event of their purchasing any estate in the neighbourhood, to have regard to the distribution of such land to the requirements of the evicted tenants in Gort, tenants of uneconomic holdings, farmers' sons, and workers skilled and unskilled, in the district and to means provided by the Land Act of 1903 for satisfying these requirements without adding to the rates; and whether due weight will be given to the representation made by the council when they come to deal with the un tenanted land in the vicinity of Gort.

MR. BRYCE

The Estates Commissioners inform me that they have received the resolution referred to, and that, in the event of their acquiring untenanted land in the vicinity of Gort, the views of the district council will receive due consideration.
