HC Deb 05 March 1906 vol 153 c52
MR. SLOAN

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the fact that the teaching of the Irish language is being provided for by the Commissioners of Education, he will also consider the advisability of restoring Latin and French as extra subjects.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) Latin and French can hardly be considered to be within the scope of Irish primary education. When extra fees in these subjects were given comparatively few schools took advantage of the privilege.
