§ SIR EDWARD CARSONTo ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is intended to proceed with the draft Order in Council presented to Parliament under the Military Manœuvres Act, 1897, in the form in which the draft Order now stands; and, if so, when the address under the said Act will be moved.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) It is intended to proceed with this draft Order in Council in its present form, and the Address will be moved as soon as the Order has lain before each House of Parliament for thirty days on which that House is sitting, that is, about the second week in May. The manœuvres will be held in August for the period of that month, as I have already promised a deputation from the county. This month has been selected in order that the views put forward to me by the deputation might be met.
