HC Deb 25 June 1906 vol 159 c601
MR. WILLIAM REDMOND (Clare, E.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will, in the interest of public peace and good feeling, see that the evicted tenants in county Clare are dealt with as soon as possible, and whether he can state the total number of Clare evicted tenants, and what steps are being taken for their restoration to holdings, so that their present state of idleness and suffering may be terminated.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Estates Commissioners inform me that they have deputed one of their inspectors to inquire into the cases of the 217 evicted tenants who have lodged applications for reinstatement in county Clare. The inspector's inquiries will obviously take some time, but the matter will be pressed forward with as much despatch at possible.
