HC Deb 21 June 1906 vol 159 cc381-2
MR. CLANCY (Dublin County, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland when the Report of the inspectors of lunatics will be laid upon the Table; and whether he is aware that latterly such Reports have not been issued until after the rising of Parliament, so that there is no opportunity of referring to them when the Estimates are under discussion.

* MR. BRYCE

The Inspectors of Lunatic Asylums inform me that they hope to present their Report in the course of the coming month. The delay which has occurred in preparing the Report in recent years has been due to the difficulty of obtaining the necessary financial Returns from the various asylums. The inspectors have now made arrangements under which the financial Returns to be included in their annual Reports will relate to an earlier period than heretofore, and they anticipate that they will be able to present their Reports without delay in future.
