§ MR. HAMMOND (Carlow)To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether lie is aware, with reference to the Faulkner Estate, Spring-hill, Queen's County, that many poor tenants on this property, notwithstanding that under the agreement in this matter they were to be relieved of the payment of one year's rent, are now being pressed for payment of this year's rent; and will he endeavour to induce the Estates Commissioners to effect an early definitive settlement in this case.
(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Estates Commissioners have no knowledge whether pressure for the payment of rent is taking place in the case of this estate. The Commissioners expect that they will be able, by the end of this month, to make an offer for the purchase of the estate.
