HC Deb 19 June 1906 vol 159 cc24-5
MR. J. P. FARRELL (Longford, N)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he will state whether any progress has yet been made in providing for extended building expenditure under Plan VI. for the erection of national schools in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. McKenna) No settlement has yet been reached, I am sorry to say, the Commissioners of National Education having objected to the new plans prepared by the Board of Works at the instance of the Treasury. The Commissioners have now been asked to submit for the consideration of the Irish Government and the Treasury, their own suggestions for plans for schools to be built in future years.
