HC Deb 18 June 1906 vol 158 cc1338-9
COLONEL MCCALMONT (Antrim, E.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the fact that Lord Clanricarde's agent has made a report to the Government on the condition of Lord Clanricarde's estate in the county Galway, he will state how many farms on this estate are untenanted.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) No such report has been received by the Government from Lord Clanricarde's agent. The official information upon the subject of the Question, which is contained in a Return (No. 173) presented to Parliament in 1903, shows that out of 254 evicted farms on the estate all except twenty-eight were in the occupation of tenants. I have no reason to believe that the circumstances have materially changed since then.
