WALKERI beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies with reference to the suggested construction of railways in Northern Nigeria, which would facilitate the growth of cotton, whether the alternative of motor traction upon the roads which have been or are being constructed is also under consideration.
§ *MR. CHURCHILLThe hon. Member makes a valuable suggestion. The possibility of employing motor traction in Northern Nigeria has been under consideration, and some experiments have already been made in this direction. We have not yet learned the result.
