WEIRI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if ho will state when the funds will be forthcoming to enable the Secretary for Scotland to take such steps as may be necessary to meet the sanitary requirements of the townships in the Island of Lewis and remedy the evils disclosed in the Report of Dr. Dittmar, the medical inspector for the Local Government Board for Scotland.

As my hon. friend knows, the circumstances in this case are exceptional and difficult, and I regret that it is not yet possible to indicate the policy of the Government in regard to it. The subject is receiving serious consideration.
