§ MR. CROSSLEY (Cheshire, Altrincham)To ask the hon. Member for East Bristol, as Church Estates Commissioner, how many of the fifty-seven licensed houses on the estates of the Ecclesiastical Commissionersin Lancashire were either leased for the first time or by way of renewal during the past ten years; where such houses are situate; and what inquiries, if any, were made by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners as to the needs of the neighbourhoods before granting or regranting the lease or leases concerned.
(Answered by Mr. Hobhouse.) The number is two, and both were renewals. The Commissioners were satisfied from their acquaintance with the circumstances of the estates and the districts that in. neither case was there sufficient ground, for refusing a renewal.
