§ *SIR. C. HILLI beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for;he Colonies what action the Secretary of State for the Colonies proposes to take to give effect to the views of the deputation which recently waited upon him in regard to the preservation of the fauna of Africa; and whether, in view of the fact that a sum approaching £10,000 a year is received from the operation of the East Africa Game Regulations, ho will undertake to allocate a sum not loss than.£1,000 in next year's Estimates for that Protectorate towards the efficient policing and protection of the Nor thorn or Lake Rudolf Reserve.
§ *MR. CHURCHILLThe Secretary of State is communicating with the authorities of the different colonies and protectorates in West and East Africa with a view to giving effect, as far as practicable, to the recommendations of the deputation. With regard to the second part of the hon. Member's Question, the Secretary of State is instructing the Commissioner of the East African Protectorate to bring forward the question of making better provision for the protection of the reserves when the Estimates for next year are submitted, but he cannot undertake to say at present whether it will be possible to allocate a sum as desired.
