§ MR. SLOANTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the cast-off clothing, etc., belonging to the Royal Irish Constabulary force is annually sold to a London firm, and that no opportunity of tendering is given to Irish traders; and if he will consider the advisability of causing such goods to be sold by public competition.
(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The cast-off clothing of the Royal Irish Constabulary is disposed of by contract as the result of tenders obtained in the open market. Advertisements for tenders are inserted in Irish newspapers, and Irish firms, therefore, have full opportunity to tender. No tender, however, has been received from any Irish trader.
