To ask the Secretary of State for War on what date the Army regulation granting pensions of 4d. and 6d. a day to short service men on reaching the age of 50, and which was in force in 1865 was cancelled.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) These deferred pension regulations were j cancelled by Royal Warrant of July 23rd, 1864, but soldiers who enlisted before September 10th, 1864 (the date of the promulgation of the Warrant) were entitled to claim the benefit of the deferred pension regulations.
