§ MR. KILBRIDEI beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the unsuitability of the post office accommodation in Athy is recognised, and that possible sites for the erection of a new post office were brought under the notice of the postal authorities in February and 249 May, 1905; and whether, in view of the length of time that the consideration of the matter has taken, and his promise to take steps to acquire the site, he can say what steps have been taken within the last three months, and when he hopes to be able to issue advertisements for tenders for the erection of the new post office.
§ MR. SYDNEY BUXTONYes, I am aware of the circumstances to which the hon. Member refers, and as I mentioned in answering his Question of April 5th last,† steps are being taken to acquire the site; but I am afraid that financial exigencies will not admit of the new building being commenced during the current financial year.
