HC Deb 04 July 1906 vol 160 cc55-6
MR. O'SHAUGHNESSY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any of the Sub-Commissioners, whose term of office expired, gave evidence on behalf of the landlords before Mr. Justice Fitzgerald at Limerick last week, in the rehearing of cases appealed by the tenants from the Sub-Commission Court; and, if so, whether their valuation was higher than the rents fixed by the Sub-Commissioners; and whether, when these ex Sub-Commissioners were appointed, he can say if it was on the ground of competency in being able to determine the value of land.

MR. BRYCE

I am informed by the Land Commission that the cases referred to in the Question are still pending, the decision of the Court not having yet been pronounced. The Judicial Commissioner who heard the evidence in these cases is,. I understand, absent from Dublin on circuit.
