HC Deb 04 July 1906 vol 160 cc22-3
DR. HAZEL (West Bromwich)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India, in view of the fact that the appointment of Mr. J. A. Chapman to the principal-ship of the Calcutta Madrassah is a temporary one, made during the absence on leave of the permanent holder of the office, he will say if Dr. E. Denison Ross, the late principal of the Calcutta Madrassah, has been appointed to the substantive post of officer-in-charge of the records of the Government in India; and if so, who is, at the present moment, the permanent holder of the office of principal of the Calcutta Madrassah.

MR. MORLEY

Dr. Denison Ross has been appointed to the post of officer in charge of the Records of the Government of India; but he retains, in addition, the principalship of the Madrassah until a permanent successor shall have been appointed.
