HC Deb 04 July 1906 vol 160 c46

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Congested Districts Board paid for lands purchased by them, fifteen years purchase of first-term rents in 1902 and eighteen years purchase in 1906, and of second term rents eighteen and three-quarter years purchase in 1902, and twenty-one and a quarter years purchase in 1906; and, if so, can the Board explain, in view of the depression in agricultural values, how the increase of three years purchase and two and-a-half years respectively can be explained.

The facts are as stated by the hon. Member. The Question put will be mentioned to the Board at its next meeting, which will be in a few days. I have not the materials at present for a fuller answer.
