HC Deb 02 July 1906 vol 159 c1415
MR. LONSDALE

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that the occupation of the Aland Islands, in the Baltic, by Russian troops, while Russian warships remain in the immediate vicinity, has caused alarm in Sweden; and whether it is intended to ask the Russian Government for explanations of their action, in view of the engagements of Russia as to these islands in the Treaty of Paris.

SIR EDWARD GREY

The Answer to the first part of the Question is in the negative. As regards the second part, I have nothing to add to the reply given on June 28th to the hon. Member for the Blackpool Division of Lancashire.†
