HC Deb 28 February 1906 vol 152 c1117
MR. STANLEY WILSON (Yorkshire. E.R., Holderness)

To ask the Secretary of State for War if Imperial troops are to be retained in the Transvaal when it has become a self-governing Colony.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) The conditions prevailing in the Transvaal are for the time being exceptional and unprecendented, and any disposition of Imperial forces which may he deemed necessary for the effective maintenance of public security will not be affected by the constitutional changes which are in contemplation.
