§ MR. D. A. THOMASI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if in future returns he will cause the number of Welsh emigrants and immigrants from and to the United Kingdom to be stated separately, as is now done in the case of those of Scotch and Irish nationality.
§ MR. LLOYD-GEORGEThe particulars with respect to nationality of emigrants and immigrants which the Board of Trade are empowered to obtain are defined in the Merchant Shipping Act of 1894. My legal advisers are of opinion that no distinction could be made between English and Welsh passengers without frosh legislation. I will see that a clause to remedy this defect is inserted in the Merchant Shipping Amendment Act to be introduced shortly by the Government.
