§ MR. JOYCE (Limerick)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Local Government Board have sanctioned the works in connection with the Ballinacurra sewer at Limerick; and, if so, will he use his influence with the Board of Works to have the loan advanced with as little delay as possible, so that this work may be carried out.
MR. BRYCEOn the 16th instant, the Local Government Board gave their sanction to the Limerick No. 1 Rural District Council for a loan of £1,500 for the purpose mentioned. It is open to the council to contract for this loan in the open market or to apply to the Board of Works for it. I am informed by the latter Board that they have not received an application for this particular loan, but that in the case of another loan applied for by the same council they have found it necessary to point out that, owing to the repeated failure of the council to fulfil their undertakings on existing loans, the Board of Works will be precluded from making further loans unless they receive reliable assurance of punctuality in future payments.
