§ MR. JOHN DEWAR (Inverness)I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland if the Report of the Commissioners appointed by the Local Government Board to make inquiry into the incidence of local taxation in Harris, North and South Uist, and Barra, has been received; if it is to be published, and what the Government proposes to do to relieve those parishes of the excessive taxation they bear.
§ MR. SINCLAIRThe Report referred to by the hon. Member is at present under consideration, and it has been thought expedient to extend the inquiry to the Lews, where the financial conditions are analagous. Until that inquiry is concluded the question of publication, as well as of the necessity for Government relief, cannot be decided.
