§ MR. LEVY (Leicestershire, Loughbrough). To ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether the delay in the issue of the list of alien immigrant 770 arrivals from the Continent in January is due to any new form in which it is intended to publish the figures; and whether the Return will state the number of rejections, the reasons for such rejections, and the number of appeals to the Immigration Boards, and their results.
(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) The Act under which the information as to alien immigration from the Continent hitherto published was obtained has been repealed by the Aliens Act of last Session. Statistics are being compiled under the new Act with the view of giving in due course all the information possible with regard to the question of alien immigration in this country, but a stage has not yet been reached at which the periods for the publication of these statistics can usefully be settled.
