§ CAPTAIN CRAIG (Down, E.)To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the scarcity of turf in certain school areas in Ireland, and the distance many children have to walk over mountainous roads in inclement weather to attend school in the winter season, he will place on the Estimates a sum of £24,000 to provide fires in all Irish national schools.
§ (Answered by Mr. Bryce) The Commissioners of National Education have submitted proposals on this subject, and these are now under consideration.
