LUPTON (Lincolnshire, Sleaford)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether any system of registration of smallpox cases exists in India and any system of registration of vaccination from which it can be readily ascertained by investigators whether persons suffering from smallpox have been vaccinated or not.
§ MR. JOHN ELLISThere is a system of registration of vaccinations performed throughout India. There is no such general system in respect of cases of smallpox, but there is a legal obligation to report cases occurring in most of the larger towns.
§ MR. LUPTONHas the Royal Commission not been told that vaccination in this case is absolutely useless?
