§ MR. HUGH LAW (Donegal, W.)I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General for Ireland whether the inquiry regarding the Irish Provident Assurance Company has been completed; and, if so, whether he is now in a position to give any information as to the status and financial position of this company.
§ MR. CHERRYI regret that I cannot give the hon. Member any information as to the status and financial position of the Irish Provident Assurance Company. I understand that some dispute has arisen between this company and the National 150 Standard Life Assurance Corporation' and that legal proceedings are pending between the two companies in an action in London. Full inquiries have been made by the Irish Government into the matter, but so far no facts have been disclosed which would justify any interference on the part of the Government.
