HC Deb 10 December 1906 vol 166 cc1529-30
MR. DELANY

To ask the Postmaster-General if he will state on whose recommendation and on what grounds a messenger in the secretary's office in Dublin was recently promoted to the postmastership of Killucan; were any applications for this position received from sorting clerks and telegraphists; and was the vacancy announced in the Post Office Circular.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) I appointed the messenger in question to the postmastership of Killucan because he was, in my opinion, the most suitable candidate. Applications for the post, which was duly advertised in the Post Office Circular, were received from several sorting clerks and telegraphists.
