To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can state the number of † See (i) Debates, clxv., 1246–7. Scotchmen who have joined the Army during the last twelve months.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The number of recruits raised in Scotland during the year ended 30th September last was 3,782. It is impossible to say how many of these men so recruited are Scotsmen; but, on the other hand, it must be remembered that many Scotsmen enlist in England.
