§ MR. MEYSEY-THOMPSON (Staffordshire, Handsworth)On behalf of the hon. Member for North Hampshire, I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the Committee appointed to consider the formation of a national army which has been assembled under the presidency of Lord Esher, has yet reported; and will he lay the Report of the Committee upon the Table of the House as soon as it is received.
§ MR. HALDANEThe Committee in question was assembled to advise on such matters connected with the formation of a national army as might be referred to it from time to time, and it still exists 745 for this purpose. Hitherto its functions have been wholly of a consultative nature, but should any Report be ultimately furnished, I will consider whether it might not be laid on the Table of the House.
