HC Deb 04 December 1906 vol 166 cc744-5
MR. MEYSEY-THOMPSON (Staffordshire, Handsworth)

On behalf of the hon. Member for North Hampshire, I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the Committee appointed to consider the formation of a national army which has been assembled under the presidency of Lord Esher, has yet reported; and will he lay the Report of the Committee upon the Table of the House as soon as it is received.

MR. HALDANE

The Committee in question was assembled to advise on such matters connected with the formation of a national army as might be referred to it from time to time, and it still exists for this purpose. Hitherto its functions have been wholly of a consultative nature, but should any Report be ultimately furnished, I will consider whether it might not be laid on the Table of the House.
