HC Deb 03 August 1906 vol 162 c1603
MR. MOREELL (Oxfordshire, Henley)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is open to officers and men in His Majesty's Army to take part in their military capacity in a political entertainment, organised by a political club for party purposes, at which entertainment a charge of 6d. a head is to be made for the benefit of the political club in question; and, if not, whether he will take steps to prevent such a breach of regulations.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. HALDANE,) Haddington

Officers and men are not permitted to participate in entertainments of the kind and under the conditions mentioned, and the particular arrangements to which my hon. friend probably refers have boon cancelled.

MR. MORRELL

As the engagement referred to in the question was widely advertised will the right hon. Gentleman see that equally public announcements are made of its cancellation?

MR. HALDANE

I think my Answer to this Question will suffice.
