HC Deb 02 August 1906 vol 162 cc1321-2
MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether there are dormant ledgers kept at the Savings Bank Department: if so whether non-interest-bearing accounts, on which no actual transactions have taken place for a number of years, are transferred to these ledgers either regularly or from time to time; and whether interest-bearing accounts, on which no actual transactions have taken place for a number of years, are transferred to these ledgers either regularly or from time to time.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) There are ledgers kept at the Savings Bank Department to which non-interest bearing accounts which have not been operated on for a considerable period are transferred as opportunity arises. No such transfer takes place in the case of interest bearing accounts.
