HC Deb 02 August 1906 vol 162 c1335
MR. WHITEHEAD

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether his attention has been called to the efforts being made by the officials of the Liverpool Victoria Legal Friendly Society to convert that society into a company under the Companies' Acts, and thereby change the character of the undertaking; whether he is aware that the persons insuring in that society, numbering about 3,000,000, consist mainly of people of small means who insure their children; and whether the Registrar of Friendly Societies can take steps to secure that these persons shall have an opportunity of being heard and of having their views considered (either through attendance and voting at meetings or otherwise) before any such conversion is authorised.

(Answered by Mr. McKenna.) I would refer my hon. friend to the Answer which I gave to a similar Question by the hon. Member for Barrow-in-Furness, on the 24th ultimo.
