MR. ALDEN (Middlesex, Tottenham)

To ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether members of the Society of Friends resident in Natal are exempt from military service, or whether they are liable to be called upon to serve under the last Militia Bill.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) Members of the Society of Friends resident in Natal are not exempt from military service under the local Militia Act of 1903. Resolutions for their exemption were rejected by the Legislative Assembly.
