To ask the Postmaster-General whether he can specify any instances in the postal service, other than postmen in the London postal service, in which officers are systematically promoted over an intervening class.

(Answered by Lord Stanley.) The hon. Member is in error in supposing that postmen in the London postal service are systematically promoted over an intervening class. Such a procedure does not exist in any part of the Post Office.
