To ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether he can give the average attendance of children in the infants' departments of public elementary schools, and the average attendance of such children between the ages of three and five during the last year for which the information is available.

(Answered by Sir William Anson.) The average attendance of children in the infants' department s of public elementary schools for the year 1903–4 was 1,572,224. The average attendance of children between the ages of three and five was 456,068.
