§ MR. TULLY (Leitrim, S.)To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners can state the number of cases 470 on the King-Harman Estate and Sandford Estate respectively in which they have approached or negotiated with tenants in possession of grazing lauds or non-residential holdings for the sale to them of the tenant's interest in same for the purpose of the division of these lands amongst the holders of uneconomic holdings; in how many cases have these negotiations been successful; and on what terms is the money proposed to be repaid which is advanced for the purchase of the tenants' interests.
(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) In five cases on the estate of E. C. King-Harman, the Estates Commissioners have intimated that if the vendor should buy up the tenants' interest and offer the holdings to them as untenanted land, they will be prepared to consider favourably the question of their purchase for the purpose of the enlargement of smaller holdings on this estate. The advances will be made for the purchase of the fee simple of the lands as untenanted.
