§ MR. LEVYTo ask the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that it is impossible to ascertain who supplied a large portion of the stores destroyed in South Africa, he will consider the advisability of issuing instructions that all stores supplied to the War Office should bear a distinctive mark, in order that the contractors of all stores may be identified when necessary.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Arnold-Forster.) Under existing instructions, stores supplied to the War Office are required, as far as possible, in the case of those which are capable of being stamped or branded, to bear the distinctive mark of the contractor concerned. It must be remembered that there are some stores which do not readily admit of being so stamped or branded.
