§ MR. BOLANDI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that with a view to promoting afforestation in Ireland it has been decided to have an Arbor Day celebrated in November; and can he say whether any, and, if so, what, facilities for the purchase of trees will be given to local associations throughout the country which desire to celebrate the day.
§ MR. WALTER LONGNo representations have been made to the Department as to an Arbor Day celebration this year. Facilities are given under the county agricultural and horticultural schemes for encouraging the planting of trees. These include the purchase and re-sale at cost price of trees to residents in counties which adopt the scheme.
