HC Deb 10 May 1905 vol 145 cc1479-80
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL (Kerry, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will appoint a small Committee to inquire into the Irish Teacher Pension Fund, the adequacy of the present capital and Government contribution, the necessity or otherwise of increasing the pensions given, and of altering the conditions required for getting pension.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY (Mr. VICTOR CAVENDISH,) Derbyshire, W.

I cannot see any sufficient reason for appointing a Committee until the results of the quinquen- nial valuation, which is to be held at the close of this year, are known.

MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL

But could not a small Committee get the facts together? It is a most difficult subject.

MR. VICTOR CAVENDISH

I will consider that.
