HC Deb 10 May 1905 vol 145 cc1475-6
MR. SLOAN (Belfast, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland how many nuns are acting as paid nurses in the Ballyshannon Union, county Donegal; is he aware that one of the nuns who was in charge left off duty on 14th February last and has not returned since; and, if so, will he say if she has sent in her resignation, and, if so, on what date; who is the nurse in charge at present; and on what date was she appointed.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) Three nuns are employed as paid nurses in tin infirmary of the Ballyshannon workhouse. The Local Government Board have no information to show that one of these nuns has vacated her position, either temporarily or permanently. The fever hospital nurse obtained a week's leave of absence at the date mentioned, but she is not a nun.
