HC Deb 09 May 1905 vol 145 cc1337-8
MR. McCRAE (Edinburgh, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if lie can state whether the 1st Battalion Royal Highlanders (the Black Watch), now stationed at Fort George is to be sent to Stops for training; and, if so, what use is to be made of the manœuvre ground recently leased in the Inverness district for the training of troops.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. ARNOLD-FORSTER,) Belfast, W.

All Regular battalions in the Scottish Command, including the 1st Battalion Royal Highlanders, will be assembled for brigade training at Stops about August 1st. No manœuvre ground is leased in the Inverness District, except in the vicinity of Fort George, and this land is only sufficient for company and battalion field training.
