HC Deb 09 May 1905 vol 145 cc1328-9
MR. WEIR

To ask the Lord-Advocate whether he has received a copy of a resolution carried recently at a meeting of crofters at Mulbine, Black Isle, Ross-shire, urging that the benefits of The Crofters' Act, 1886, should be extended to small leaseholders, and that the Crofters' Commission should be empowered to enlarge existing holdings, and to create new ones out of lands scheduled in the Report of the Deer Forest Commission; and, if so, will he state what action he proposes to take in the matter.

(Answered by Mr. Scott Dickson.) A resolution has recently been received by the Secretary for Scotland from the crofters at Mulbine to the effect stated in the Question, but legislation will be necessary to give effect to it, and the Secretary for Scotland does not contemplate introducing any legislation on this subject.
